Print your barcode or QR code at a size that's big enough to scan wherever it will be used. Keep the code dark on a light background, and don't stretch or squash it. When your free proof arrives, scan the code with the phone or scanner you'll actually use before you approve it. Roll labels come in white vinyl, clear vinyl, silver vinyl or paper (for dry use only), with gloss or matte laminate on white and silver.
