The distinction that matters

Waterproof and water-resistant
are not the same thing.

Plenty of labels sold as waterproof are paper with a light coating. They survive a splash, then wrinkle in the fridge, lift at the edges in an ice bucket, or smear when someone wipes them with a damp cloth. If your product lives anywhere near moisture, that difference shows up in front of your customer.

BOPP vinyl is different because the material itself is plastic. Water does not get in, because there is nothing for it to soak into. Ours are also oil-proof and fridge-proof, which is why they end up on sauce bottles, skincare and anything that gets refrigerated.

Where it holds up
  • ✓ Fridges, freezers and cold storage
  • ✓ Bottles that sweat in an esky
  • ✓ Bathrooms, showers and steam
  • ✓ Oils, sauces and greasy hands
  • ✓ Outdoor exposure and rain
Choosing

Which waterproof label
suits your product.

White vinyl

The all-rounder and our most popular label stock. Premium gloss white BOPP: waterproof, oil-proof and fridge-proof, with colours that stay sharp through cold storage and condensation.

Clear vinyl

Same waterproofing, no visible label. Your design appears printed straight onto the glass or bottle. Colours need a white ink underlay behind them, which we add automatically in pre-press.

Silver vinyl

Metallic finish with the same waterproof base. Suits premium ranges, skincare and anything that wants to feel more expensive on shelf.

What is not waterproof

Uncoated matte paper. It looks beautiful and feels natural, and it belongs on dry pantry goods and gift packaging only. We will tell you if you are about to put paper somewhere it will fail.

Bottles and jars

The most common waterproof job we print. Sizing for curved glass has its own rules — keep the label on the straight section or it creases, no matter who prints it.

Small runs

Not ready for 500? Kiss-cut sticker sheets use the same waterproof vinyl and start at just 10, which suits market stalls, testing a design or a first product run.

Formats

On rolls for production,
on sheets for small runs.

Roll labels start at 500 and are supplied dispenser-ready on 76mm cores, wound outward as standard, which suits most labelling machines and hand application straight off the roll. It is the cheaper format per label and the faster one to apply once you are running volume.

Below 500, kiss-cut sticker sheets are the sensible choice — same waterproof vinyl, no minimum pain, and easy to peel by hand. Plenty of our customers start on sheets and move to rolls as their volume grows.
